Konstkåren is the student union which represents all the students at the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts at the University of Gothenburg including students from the teacher education program in music, dance, theatre, art and crafts.

The faculty consists in two institutions: The Academy of Music and Drama (HSM) and Academy of Art and Design (HDK-Valand).

Our Mission

​

The main duty of Konstkåren is to be a channel for students to get organised and review the activities and decisions made by the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts. There is space for student representatives at various councils and decision making groups both on faculty level and locally, in both institutions. 
Through these student representatives, we can have a transparent overview of the faculty and a possibility to influence our education.

 
In addition to the educational assignment, Konstkårens duty is to make the student time as fruitful as possible for all students at the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts. 
For art students, the situation is quite different from other students in other faculties, since our education allow us to invest 100% of our time in our artistic activities, which have a central place in our lives both during our student time and later in life as performing artists and cultural workers. The study social aspect of the educational is something we take care of as well. This is how we, young aspiring artists, meet other artists that will inspire us and with whom we might work with in the future. 
Konstkåren has a budget for study social activities arranged for the students, and by the students, within the institutions and programs and overall for all art students.
